In Bangladesh child mortality dropped by 65% in less than 20 years

UNICEF's Representative in Bangladesh, Carel de Rooy, speaks about why investing in the earliest years of a child can reap billions of dollars over time. In a country with over 80 million children, targeted interventions have ensured that child mortality dropped by 65% in less than 20 years. Despite the inroads challenges still remain.

Almost half of the country's children live below the upper poverty line. UNICEF, in collaboration with the government, is working towards providing vulnerable children with access to healthcare, sanitation and education through integrated programmes.
